In a year where many athletes are avoiding the games, Daniah Hagul is an outlier. Hagul is a 17-year old Libyan swimmer who has successfully crowdfunded her way to the Olympics. She utilized the website GoFundMe.com to collect money from her supporters, which has a whole page dedicated to athletes trying to reach Rio.
Thanks to Hagul’s efforts she will be the first female swimmer from Libya since the revolution that disposed former leader Muammar Gaddafi and left the country in dire economic circumstances.
Astros and Rangers at it again
The two clubs minor league affiliates, Corpus Christi Hooks and Frisco RoughRiders, got into it Sunday afternoon following a HBP. Taking after their major league counter parts who are currently in a tight race for the A.L. West.
It All started in the second inning when Frisco pitcher Yohander Mendez hit Corpus Christi’s Danry Vasquez in the leg with a pitch. Vazquez immediately charged the mound and it was on from there.
KSC was down 3-0 in the 82nd minute. In a friendly preseason match, there is no need for this type of tackle that late and down by that much. Unfortunate for Aaron Cresswell, and West Ham, since he is now out 3-4 months with a knee injury.
